In an excoriating and powerful speech, author Zadie Smith spoke today at the Writers Rebel gathering outside 55 Tufton Street, where she spoke about the Conservative ‘Common Sense’ group of MPs and in particular Craig MacKinlay, who campaigns against green policies and is accused of failing to declare that two of his staff have close ties to NetZeroWatch, which is based at Tufton Street.
Characterising the lobbyists of Tufton Streets as ‘pragmatists’, she exposes the evil that such pragmatism masks. These are not climate deniers. They know the science, they know whose money they are taking, but they lie to us, via elected officials like Craig MacKinlay, and they must be stopped.
