Students from ‘XR Universities‘ supported by various other divestment, anti-racist, climate and decolonisation groups, invaded a private reception during the President’s Address at Imperial College this week.

President Alice Gast is on the board of Chevron, and the univeristy has so far resisted calls to divest its annual £12 million investments in fossil-fuel and arms companies.

Protesters angry at the conflict of interest are calling on Alice Gast to either resign from Imperial College, or resign from Chevron.

Several students entered the private reception and drank fake oil while addressing the guests through a megaphone.

The action took place during a week-long occupation of several universities across the UK and in countries worldwide.
