At a rally in Parliament Square on Saturday, the partner of jailed climate activist Marcus Decker gave an impassioned speech describing how she tries to explain to her ten year old son why the government has imprisoned him and is threatening to deport him, splitting the family for good.

Jailed climate activist Marcus Decker spoke live from his prison cell on Saturday to a rally of supporters protesting outside the Home Office.

Marcus faces threatened deportation on top of a 31 month prison sentence, for disrupting traffic for a day by climbing and unfurling a banner on the M25 QEII bridge in October 2022. His colleague Morgan Trowland received a 3 year sentence.

Lawyers are appealing both sentences, which were unprecedented for peaceful protest in this country.

A petition against deportation has reached more than 80,000 signatures at time of publishing.
