The Islington Climate Centre hosted the launch of a powerful new photography exhibition last week – Deeds Not Words – by Denise Baker, documenting women in activism.

The centre’s co-founder Anna Hyde introduced a panel of four amazing speakers, and asked them about their journeys into activism, their memories of funny or weird moments along the way, their advice to younger activists, and their views of what might happen next.

Veteran Camden campaigner Dorothea Hackman was joined by Black rights and police monitoring activist Chantelle Lunt, Caren Wilding who has worked with many groups and is currently forging links with striking unions, and Clare Farrell, one of the co-founders of Extinction Rebellion.

Last year, Real Media reported from the opening of the Climate Centre which has now been running for ten months in the heart of the Angel shopping centre in North London. But the owners have found a new tenant and the search is on for somewhere new. Some regular activities will continue at various locations in the meantime so check their website for info.
