Chloé Farand (desmoguk.org) talks about greenwash and the World Cup. FIFA has signed up to a UN Climate Chnage initiative, but despite the publicity, the actual actions it is taking amount to very little, and several of the World Cup sponsors, who gain a lot of PR out of their association with the brand, are big climate destroyers – notably Gazprom, who were the first to start drilling for oil in the Arctic.
