Grassroots campaign group ‘Vote No Heathrow” have begun a hunger strike and a series of direct actions to persuade supposedly ‘progressive’ parties and institutions to vote against Heathrow expansion. On Saturday, as well as kicking off their daily morning vigils outside the Labour HQ, they visited the HQ of Unite the Union, who are currently supporting the third runway in the belief it will supply many new secure jobs. Climate campaigners believe the only security would be in clean and green technology, in which the UK could be a world leader if it chose to. The group have some bold plans and are calling a public meeting at Friends House in London at 7pm Tuesday 12th June for people to hear more and get involved. Support is also welcome outside Labur HQ each morning 11 – 1am.
