Hundreds attended a noisy protest outside the Foreign Office on Wednesday, including the co-founder of Medical Aid For Palestinians, Dr Swee Ang, and emergency physician Dr James Smith, who has spent much time in Gaza and has seen first-hand the wanton and targeted destruction of health facilities at the hands of the illegally occupying Israeli army.
The protest was called by Healthworkers For Palestine and received support from a wide number of groups including the long-running Community Camp outside the US Embassy, as well as International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network and Global Women’s Strike.
For several hours, between speeches, they kept up a barrage of noise with drummers, chants and pots and pans. It follows a similar noise demonstration on Monday evening organised by Jewish and UK-based Israeli groups, and keeps the pressure up on staff to remind them that a large majority in the UK want the government to impose a full arms embargo and far more action against Israel, to urgently halt the man-made famine and genocide being unleashed by the Zionist state on the civilians of Ghazzah, as well as the increasingly violent occupation of the West Bank.
