On 31st October, hundreds of people attended an unauthorised protest rally in Parliament Square – a ‘Declaration of Rebellion’ and a call for mass civil disobedience by a group called Extinction Rebellion.
Among the speakers were Clive Lewis MP, who is the Labour front bench spokesperson for Sustainable Economics.
He said he supported breaking the law in the form of peaceful civil disobedience to push for fast radical action on climate change, but also that wanted to change the law so the people that end up behind bars are those that destroy the planet – that burn the planet.
