Peter King was forced to give up his occupation as a cab driver due to ill health brought on by air pollution. Like many cabbies, he suffered chest infections. But his illnesses grew worse, and after an operation for sinusitis he was prescribed steroids.

Continuing work to look after his family, a wife and two sons, he suffered bouts of extreme fatigue culminating in dangerous blackouts that forced him out of work five years ago. He was soon diagnosed with ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which is a debilitating and currently incurable condition. As he and his family face an uncertain future, he asks Sadiq Khan to do much more to tackle the issue of air pollution as an immediate and urgent priority. The mayor’s public consultation on air quality closes on the 28th February. Have your say at get.healthyair.org.uk
